Statement of Faith

Through careful study of the Word of God these are the things commonly held among us...

God

We believe in One God, the Father, who alone is the ‘Only True God’.

“The Lord our God, the Lord is One.” Deuteronomy 6:4 & “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” - Jesus, John 17:3

Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and Messiah, and that eternal life, salvation, is only found in Him. We believe that Jesus was the sinless sacrifice for our sins, that he was born of a virgin, and that He was crucified and resurrected on the third day.

“...that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” John 20:31

“then know this,... It is by the name of Jesus Christ, ...Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:10,12

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

“God sent the angel Gabriel to...a virgin...the angel said to her, "You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.” Luke 1:26-31

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures...” 1 Cor. 15:3,4

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is God’s power at work in the lives of believers from baptism for the purpose of serving God and people.

"Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2;38 & “To each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” 1 Corinthians 12:7

Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, given by divine inspiration, and that the Bible is where we are to look for teaching, correction and training in righteousness. It is the standard for doctrine.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” 2 Timothy 3:16

Our Hope, The Kingdom of God

We believe that the central message of Jesus was that God’s Kingdom would be reestablished on this earth at the return of Christ and the resurrection of the dead.

"I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God...because that is why I was sent." - Jesus, Luke 4:43

“...until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.” Acts 3:21

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5 & “You (Jesus) have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth." Revelation 5:10 & “I saw the Holy City,...coming down out of heaven from God...And I heard a voice saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them.” Revelation 21:2,3

Man

We believe that man is mortal by nature and therefore subject to death because of Adam’s sin. At death, he remains in the grave until resurrection. Because he is mortal he must seek immortality through Jesus and he then will receive the gift of eternal life when Christ returns and we are changed, or resurrected from the sleep of death. Those who reject Jesus will be destroyed.

“For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.” 1 Corinthians 15:53

“To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.” Romans 2:7

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

“Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed...at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable...” 1 Corinthians 15:51,52

“...those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to contempt.” Daniel 12:2 "Behold, all souls are Mine; ...The soul who sins will die.” - God, Ezekiel 18:4

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by Grace, through the blood of Christ, and cannot be earned by our works, but is a free gift to those who make Jesus Lord and Savior through repentance and belief in Him.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9

Baptism

We believe baptism by immersion is the next step after belief in Jesus, and is the first act of obedience to Him. Baptism symbolizes the death & burial of the ‘old person’ and the rising from death to a new life in Christ.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Mark 16:16

“...all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:3,4

Communion

We believe in and practice open communion. Each professed Christian may exercise their privilege to take or not take communion, which is served the first Sunday of every month.

“A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” 1 Corinthians 11:28,29

Christian Life

We believe that to be a Christian is to choose a lifelong commitment to seek and obey the Lord in all we do. To find success we need to have a life that is involved regularly in prayer, study of the Bible, worship, serving the body and community with your gifts and being good stewards of your time and possessions.

“But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed and having been freed from sin, you became
slaves of righteousness.” Romans 6:17,18

Giving

We believe and teach that tithes and offerings are the proper way to support the Lord’s work.

"Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' "In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” Malachi 3:8-10 Leviticus 27:30 & 2 Corinthians 9:6-7.

Statement of Faith

What we believe

We believe that God's purpose for His Church is simple and amazingly powerful: "Love God and Love people." "Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law?" Jesus replied, " Love the Lord your God with al your heart and with all of your soul. Love him with all of your mind." (Deuteronomy 6:5) This is the first an most important commandment. And the second is like it. "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." (Leviticus 19:18) Everything that is written in the law and the prophets is based on these two commandments." Matthew 22: 36-40

It is through authentic love that all the gifts and the workings of God are made effective through his people. "Suppose I have the gift of prophecy. Suppose I can understand all the secret things of God and knew everything about him. And suppose I have enough faith to move mountains. If I don't have love, I am nothing at all. Suppose I give everything I have to the poor people. And suppose I give my body to be burned. If I don't have love, I get nothing at all... The three most important things to have are faith, hope and love." -- Paul 1 Corinthians 13: 2,3,13.

Loving God and loving people also means that we need to:

-Teach and build up our members in Christian character and Godliness.

-Provide religious education for all ages according to the word of God.

-Promote missionary activities here and abroad.

-Serve our community in all possible ways.

Our purpose

We believe our mission, based and motivated in God's love for us, and given to us by Jesus, is to make followers for him where we can: "...Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20

We accomplish this mission by teaching in love the name of Jesus Christ and the coming King of God. "...when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom  of God and the name Jesus Christ they were baptized, both men and women." Acts 8:12
